  1. PLANT OPERATORS, Job Group ‘E’ – (2) Posts


Reporting to the officer in charge he/she will: –

  • Undertake Heavy Equipment activities
  • Ensure proper maintenance of Heavy Equipment
  • Undertake routine maintenance of Heavy Equipment
  • Ensure cleanliness of the Heavy Equipment


  • KCSE certificate of Grade D Plain or its equivalent
  • Have passed the suitability test for plant operators
  • Possess a valid driving license free from current endorsement for class of machines that one may be required to operate
  • Mechanical course an added advantage
  • Have attended a First Aid certificate course lasting not less than one week from St. John
  • Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highways & Building Technology (KIHB) or any recognized institution (Added Advantage)
  • Minimum two (2) years relevant experience
  1. TRACTOR OPERATOR, Job Group ‘G’ – (2) Posts

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operating heavy plants of ‘difficult rating’ B (One of which must be motor graders and plowing tractors)
  • Keeping monthly records of the plants
  • Preparing monthly and weekly service schedules and ensuring that they are adhered to
  • Guiding turn boys and machine assistants
  • Preparing minor defects on machines
  • Liaising with officers in charge for major repairs
  • Will be charged of ensuring safety of the tractor
  • Will be charge of ensuring that the tractor is in good condition
  • Ensuring cleanliness of the tractors
  • Assisting in training junior plant operators

Requirements for Appointment:

  • Possess Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade ‘D’ plain or its equivalent
  • Served in the grade of plant operator 111 for a minimum period of three (3) years
  • Passed Occupational Trade Test 111 for plant Operators
  • A valid driving license special class
  • Ability to operate at least two (2) machines of ‘difficult rating’ 8 (one of which is a Motor Grader)
  • Attended a First Aid Course lasting not less than 1 (one) week from St. John Ambulance of Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution
  • Certificate of Good Conduct
