Governor offers to support Technical University of Mombasa

H.E. The Governor, Hassan Ali Joho has offered to support the Technical University of Mombasa to achieve quality education.  He was the Chief Guest during the 6th Graduation Ceremony of the university.

Over 2,100 students graduated in the university which has a rich history that stretches back 67 years ago. It was awarded a university charter in 2013.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Laila Abubakar said that the School of Medicine is almost complete. It will start enrolling students starting from next year. The Governor hailed the university’s plan to produce home grown doctors and medical personnel.

The School of Medicine is a TUM project supported by the Governments of Belgium, Egypt and Mombasa.

County Signs MoU with MSF Switzerland

MSF Switzerland, the Mombasa County Public Service Board and the Department of Health Services signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for recruitment procedure of medical and paramedical staff in the Likoni SRH Project. The aim is to streamline deployment of staff in the Mrima Sub-County Hospital.

The areas of understanding include:

  1. Identification of Human Resource needs and advertising
  2. Shortlisting of candidates
  3. Interview process
  4. Selection of candidates

The MoU was signed by the MSFCH Project Coordinator, The Chief Executive Officer of the Mombasa County Public Service Board, Faruk Jeizan and the Chief Officer of the Department of Health Services, Dr. Khadijah Shikely.
