SKÅL INTERNATIONAL
SKÅL International is a worldwide professional organization of tourism leaders promoting global tourism and friendship. It is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry. The idea for the foundation came after a study trip of Parisian travel agency professionals to Scandinavia in 1934. Florimond Volckaert became its first President, who is considered as the “Father of Skål”.
The word SKÅL is of Scandinavian origin used as another word for cheers but it’s also an acronym meaning:

The organization represents tourism leaders and creates a platform for communication and professional exchange among friends through local, national and international meetings. Today it has approximately 15000 members in 400 Clubs across over 90 countries. Most activities occur at local level moving up through National Committees under the umbrella of Skål International, headquartered at the General Secretariat in Torremolinos, Spain.
Skål International is governed by an Executive Committee of six members, elected by delegates to an annual General Assembly, held during the World Congress, hosted by a different country each year. This allows members first-hand observation of the travel and tourism potential around the world.
This year, Mombasa will host the 79th International Association of Travel and Tourism Professionals (SKÅL) World Congress from 17th to 21st October 2018 at Pride Inn Paradise and Resort in Mombasa. This is the first time the event would be held in Kenya.

The County Government of Mombasa won seven trophies in the just concluded Mombasa International show. This is a major achievement, especially considering that the County is soon going to be hosting a major International Conferences, SKAL, in October.
The County was crowned the Best County Stand and took the Best Agro-Processing Plant Award as well as the Best Striking Display Award. The County Stand was also honored as the 2nd Best Government and Ministries Stand. Fantastic performance.
